The Science

Gravity...
Friend or Foe?

Answer: Most definitely FOE!

Let me explain why. We all learned about gravity as children in science class. But very few of us understand the true impact it has on our musculoskeletal and nervous system. It is the most destructive force in nature, and that's exactly why every living thing, from humans to trees are designed to resist gravity efficiently. Once we stop resisting this force efficiently, a downward spiral of degeneration occurs eventually leading to pain and dysfunction of our muscles, joints, bones, vital organs and every physiological process.

Imagine Gravity as a WATERFALL of constant downward energy, that's flowing over us at a rate of 33 lbs per square inch. This is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 54 weeks a year and so on. This force is something you cannot escape no matter how hard you try.

This waterfall of energy can have a devastating effect on our musculoskeletal system if action isn't taken to correct muscle imbalances and reestablish a healthy relationship with gravity.

As we proceed through our modern lives we can feel gravity's wrath on our body. imagine how you feel after just an hour in front of a computer or smart phone. you jut your head forward to read small print and your head slowly begins to creep away from your body. During this process the weight of gravity becomes more forceful, and the small muscles on the back of your neck struggle hopelessly to keep your head from falling straight to the ground, creating a state of hypercontraction in your muscles. This state of hypercontraction leads quickly to tight, stiff muscles and then a general lack of blood flow to the tissues (called "ischemia").

Once this cycle has begun it only gets worse unless corrective action is taken. If these muscles are left to do the work your bones and joints are meant to do, the body will adapt by laying scar tissue in the muscles that are overused leading to chronic tension. When there is chronic tension and hypercontraction of muscles throughout the body most of your body's energy is utilized to feed the needs of these overworked muscles. Since most of your energy is now devoted to pulling your body as close to an upright position as possible, we tend to feel a sense of general fatigue set in.

Another very important issue to consider is the effect on our nervous system. Our bodies are very similar to computers in that our central nervous system is constantly sending and receiving impulses that control every physiological process in the body. If many of our muscles are constantly contracted, then they are constantly causing a hyperactive nervous system. this puts us in a sympathetic (i.e. "fight or flight") state at all times, unable to relax even if we try our best. When the sympathetic nervous system is triggered, certain physiological processes begin to shutdown to conserve energy to maintain homeostasis.

Due to the hyperactivity of our tissues and SNS, our body uses an incredible amount of energy just to keep up. This process of energy overuse will lead to the degeneration (breakdown) of our tissues and organs, which means that the cycle leads undoubtedly to the ACCELERATION of AGING! Yep, if you are in a constant state of stress, you are aging at a much faster rate than you should. Kinda scary huh?

Let’s take a look at a few effects of an activated sympathetic nervous system:

  Pupil Dilation

Increased Heart Rate

·         Increased Blood Pressure

·         Excessive Sweating

·         Difficulty Swallowing

·         Difficulty Breathing / Shortness of Breath

·         Excessive Worry and Feelings of Stress

·         Arrhythmia (Irregular Heart Beat)

·         Flushed/Red Chest, Neck, Face, and Ears

·         Tense/Tight Muscles

·         Impotence

·         Dizziness/Shaking/Trembling

·         Restless Legs/Arms

·         Nervous Ticks

·         Mood Swings

·         Irritability

·         Difficulty Sleeping (Insomnia)

Wow, what a list! It’s no wonder that people “diagnosed” with Anxiety or Depression are typically prescribed a handful of medications that address a number of these issues.  All these symptoms arise once the SNS is cued and our little friend Adrenaline is released into our bodies. You can now see that if we are constantly bombarded with adrenaline, as is the case when we are out of alignment with gravity, it can damage our quality of life dramatically!

Postural Distortion => Hyper-contracted Muscles =>

Hyperactive SNS => Symptoms!

It affects our relationships, work, social lives, and every other aspect which will lead even more stress and depression. This cycle will continue to repeat itself indefinitely unless an intervention takes place. My Program will stop the vicious cycle dead in its tracks and give you the knowledge necessary to maintain a healthy, balanced body and mind for the rest of your life!

The digestive system takes a permanent vacation and we fail to absorb the nutrition necessary to function properly, which in turn will create numerous health problems. Our respiration becomes rapid and shallow and instead of using our diaphragm we begin using secondary respiratory muscles (upper trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, scalenes, intercostals, pectorals) which decreases the total amount of oxygen that's received by our tissues. I'll discuss this further in the section on breathing.

Breathing and CO2

We as humans can last weeks without food, days without water but less than a few minutes without oxygen. Respiration is the most important physiological function the human body performs, but guess what?

MOST PEOPLE ARE BREATHING AT 1/2 TO 1/3 EFFICIENCY!

This may not seem like a very staggering statistic, but let's add some more information and reevaluate that statement.

One of the most interesting bits of information I've stumbled across in my research that really put breathing into perspective is this fact:

70% of Our Metabolic Waste is Excreted Via Exhalation!

That's right, our toxic waste is disposed of primarily through our breathing. So, the remaining portion of our waste is exreted through the processes I had previously believed were the main disposal means: Sweating, Urination, and of course Defecation (pooping).

With this new information let's take a look at the fact that most people in modern times (the past 50 years or so) breathe at 1/2 to 1/4 efficiency. So logically we can assume that if we are breathing at half the efficiency of a healthy standard, we are only excreting about 35% of our metabolic waste. This understandably creates a toxic environment in our bodies 24 hours a day, and all of our physiological processes are slowed and made less efficient.

So, how can you tell how efficiently YOU are expelling your toxic waste? On The Secret Program page I have a self test you can perform to determine this. It's called the CP test and here's a direct link to it if you'd like to test yourself now: The Control Pause Test

What the CP test indicate? It will show you how much oxygen is stored in your tissues at rest. Every time we take a breath, we take in air and the oxygen is captured in the lungs and exchanged with waste products (CO2). The oxygen is then sent into the blood and delivered to tissues and cells throughout the body into muscles and organs so they can perform their basic functions. It is absolutely necessary for the oxygen to be transported efficiently to individual cells in order for your body to perform well. If the efficiency of this process is inhibited or lessened, it means that every process is limited and will not work properly. This is very important for our health because if you're not delivering and storing oxygen, and eliminating waste well, your cells have no way to regenerate and heal, leading to a breakdown (or AGING) of all cellular functions.

Now that we've discussed the necessity of efficient exchange of of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide, let's take a look at how well modern people perform this vital task in terms of breathing efficiency.

As you can see below, the standard for healthy breathing is a Control Pause (Body Oxygenation Level) of between 40 and 60 seconds. You will also see what experiments have determined as the average CP for people with a number of chronic illnesses. Compare your CP results with those of people with the illnesses show. Where do you stand? When I first took my CP I was at an 8! Obviously I almost had the breathing efficiency of an individual with C.O.P.D. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)!

What researchers in Russia have also found is that as CP increases, symptoms of chronic illness decrease, showing that if you can increase your body oxygen levels, many symptoms will disappear as a result of a slower, deeper breathing pattern. I address this in my program by showing you how to make a very cheap breathing retraining device that will increase the amount of CO2 in your blood, allowing for more efficient transport of oxygen to your cells.

You may be thinking "Well if CO2 is waste, then why would I want to INCREASE my levels?" The answer is that when we breathe much more air than we should (Hyperventilation), we decrease our arterial Carbon Dioxide levels, which CONSTRICTS your blood vessels resulting in decreased delivery of oxygen-rich blood traveling to your tissues. A telling image of the effects on oxygen delivery to your brain is shown below, compliments of Normalbreathing.com. If you'd like to learn more about the science of respiration PLEASE read through the site.

What you'll achieve with The Secret Health Program is a slower, more efficient breathing pattern. You'll give your body a chance to heal more effectively and your organs will begin to perform more efficiently. You will become more clear-headed and begin to dispose of your waste the way you were designed. You'll switch back from chest breathing to the normal diaphragmatic way of breathing. You'll experience better sleep and less fatigue throughout the day, leading to a much improved quality of life. If you have worked with a personal trainer in the past and not seen the results you've expected, don't worry.

I will give you the knowledge and skills to continue your progress even after you've completed my program. This way, you won't become dependent on personal trainers, fitness magazines, and gimmicky exercise programs that end up causing you more pain and a decrease in your quality of life.
